All CAR DROP OFFS AND PICK UPS NOW FROM THE CAR PARK AND NOT OUTSIDE BAHU CENTRE

Assalamu alaykum to all our dear and respectable parents

May you all be in good imaan and health inshAllah.

Please all take note of the new policy regarding car parking for when you DROP off your child as well as PICK up your child.  It is vital that you understand and respect the following as it is now a strict policy of the madrassa set up, that is if you want your child(ren) to continue studying at our madrassa where we are constantly striving to develop your children.  I do not want to see any of our parents cars outside the Bahu Building or its adjoining vicinity.  All park up in the car park.

PARK IN THE CAR PARK AND THEN TAKE YOUR CHILD TO WHICHEVER BUILDING THEY NEED TO GO.

WHEN YOU COLLECT YOUR CHILD PLEASE PARK IN THE CAR PARK AND PICK UP YOUR CHILD BY FOOT.

IF WE SEE ANY PARENTS DOUBLE PARKING (AND WE CAN SEE FROM CCTV CAMERAS) YOUR CHILD WILL SIMPLY NOT BE TAUGHT AND A REPEAT DOUBLE PARKING WILL LEAD TO PERMANANET EXCLUSION OF YOUR CHILD.  JUST PARK IN THE CAR PARK FOR DROP OFFS AND PICK UPS GOING FORWARD.

  1. Why are we introducing this policy?

Ans: The masjid is situated at a T-Junction and with narrow and congested roads in the area we are seeing an increase in car accidents. Most of the drivers are our sisters/mothers.  Just yesterday (15th May at 8.05pm) a car was hit by a local even though the sister/mother had parked properly. This is a regular occurrence.  The person who hit her car is an ex drug dealer and already not happy about the traffic situation.  This is one example of so many.

Secondly, the masjid neighbourhood is unfortunately full of gangster type individuals who are becoming increasingly aggressive towards our parents and staff.  Only 2 weeks ago one of our teachers was physically assaulted while he engaged with a local who took issue with a sister’s parking outside the Bahu sister. This occurred in full view of other parents and students (children) who had to witness aggression and vulgar language.  I have a long list of incidents of car accidents and physical and verbal attacks parents have had to face.

Thirdly, the traffic situation compromises the safety of our madrassa staff, especially the females who have to go outside and speak to parents about parking.  This is not their duty and is just dangerous for them.  All the madrassa staff deserve the highest level of safety and respect and to keep them safe parents must all park in the car park.

Fourthly, the locals are now unsympathetic towards madrassa parents as they feel that they are congesting the area with their cars and double parking so there is more confrontation and aggression as mentioned by a growing number of mostly young hot headed individuals.  As a madrassa we have assured the locals that we will all be parking in the car park for drop offs and pick ups.

Fifthly, parents are constantly double parking despite constant reminders so a strict policy now has to be put in place.

Sixthly, so many parents simply drop off their children by parking in the middle of the road allowing children to run out. We have seen cases of oncoming traffic about to collide into children that are being dropped off out of cars in this way.  It is just no longer acceptable and needs to stop.  We will not wait for an accident that waiting to happen if we continue like this.

Seventhly, there are parents who feel they shouldn’t have to park up somewhere safe and physically escort their children onto the masjid building.  We no longer want to entertain such parents who don’t have the time or concern to drop off or pick up their children responsibly so will be asking such parents to find another masjid as they will be called up if they are not parking in the car park as now required.

Finally, a few years ago there was a fatal stabbing that was triggered by a road rage incident on the Ombersley (masjid road). The attacker also lived on the same road. Muslim and in his early twenties. I am always concerned about certain ex-convicts and ex drug dealers who live yards away from the masjid and have had personal experiences in trying to deal with their concerning behaviours towards our parents. I am happy to explain  further to any parent but have mentioned the above to make all understand that in the interest of safety especially for our mother and sister drivers we have decided that all parents should just park up in the car park.  If you don’t follow this policy we will simply remove your child from all teaching.

I thank all those parents (the majority)  who always park up safely and responsibly and fully understand and appreciate the efforts of all our staff in keeping everyone safe.  Please remember our staff are very young and need your support and it is only if we all work together as a team that we can give the best environment and standard to our children.  By using the car park everyone is much safer and that is our main priority now.  I will not compromise on safety no longer. Please have a think if you would like your child(ren) to continue and if you do, you will need to now park in the car park or otherwise start looking for a masjid which has spacious ample parking spots or who don’t take safety too seriously.  We have dedicated an entire car park to parents so that is now your only safe choice. JazakAllah and apologies if this has caused any kind of offence.

Remember Islam comes from the word Salaam which means peace and safety!
